Senior Fellowship

With the increase of an aging population, the diocese felt the need to have the churches formally organize a separate group called 'Senior Fellowship'. Initiating a senior group was tried a few years ago but it failed to grow and develop. This year under the leadership of Rev. Ajith K Thomas we have a good group of 50 members. We are hoping to increase our membership as we move forward. The age group is 60yrs and above. We are in the planning stages of different activities based on the needs for seniors. We have met twice so far. Currently the official retirement age is 67 yrs. Lawmakers are considering raising the age limit to 70 yrs. Some of our members are still working. There are unique challenges that come with aging. Some of the main issues we see are:

Keeping good physical and mental health while dealing with physical, cognitive and emotional challenges.
Keeping financial security while dealing with increasing health costs, trying to get out of debt, different kinds of financial exploitations by family or other people.
How do we manage a good social life to balance body and mind.

Some of these issues are easier to deal with better education. We have able and willing people in our church and community to help us think through these problems and issues.

Some of the topics we are planning to tackle in the near future are:

Simple tips to live a healthy life
Simple exercises
Medicare
Financial security
Local trip at the end of summer
Any other topic that is of interest to the members
