The St. Thomas Mar Thoma Church of Lombard Sunday school functions under the guidelines of Mar Thoma Sunday school, Diocese of North America & Europe. The mission of the Sunday school is aligned with the goals the Mar Thoma Church Sunday school Samajam in Kerala, India. The motto of Mar Thoma Sunday school is “Come to Jesus and Bring Every Child to Jesus”.
Our Sunday school is part of Mid-West region of Diocese of North America & Europe. Classes ranging from Pre-KG to 12th Grade are conducted on Sunday’s from 8:30AM – 10:00 AM when Sunday school is in session. Students gather in sanctuary for learning Songs, Weekly Bible Quiz and Praise & Worship for the first half hour and then they disburse to their classes around 9:00 AM.
We follow the curriculum developed by our Diocese which focuses on the themes - “God’s wonderful world”, “God’s wonderful people”, “God’s purpose for His World, and “God with God’s World and God’s people”. Students also learn about Mar Thoma traditions from the book “Mar Thoma Vision & Foundation”. During the summer months, when Sunday school is not session, Students have the opportunity to participate in VBS, Junior Camp and other competitions such as Singing, Story Telling, Elocution, Instrumental Music etc.
As the Christian Education Department of Mar Thoma Church, our dedicated teachers always play an important role in molding our children to accept Jesus Christ as their savior and help them grow in Christian fellowship.
